Here’s to 2016! I am completely thrilled to be invited to the exhibition, “New Work, New York” at the Woodward Gallery, in Manhattan. The exhibition highlights the art of 18 artists, none of which have shown at the gallery before.
My piece, “And Again”, was selected and will be on display until the end of February.
New Work, New York
January 9th – February 27th, 2016 Artist Reception: Sat., Jan. 9th from 6-8pm
It’s even more special that the gallery is around the corner from my first apartment in New York when I moved to the Lower East Side in 2000. Kind of fun to be near my old hood (even though it is SOOO much nicer now than back then)! Hope to see you at the opening!
I’ll be showing some new small works (most under $500) at The Lucky Finn as part of a small group show including Mike Sleeper, Michael Coyne, and Marian Ives. So whether you are into photography, oils, metal, or mixed media there will be plenty to see!
The Lucky Finn Café and Gallery is pleased to present a new selection of work by painter Jess Hurley Scott as part of their Fall Gallery Events. The exhibition will feature new work, highlighting her dimensional panel paintings of waves. This series explores the abstraction of water through space, reflection and movement.
Fall Gallery Event Nights!
October 23rd | 6pm-8pm
October 30th | 6pm-8pm
The artist will be on hand for the Friday night events, October 23rd and 30th, to discuss her work. The Fall Gallery Events highlight local artists for two week engagements making every Friday evening a chance to meet and greet with the artists and discuss their work in a casual atmosphere.
I am very honored to announce that one of my pieces have been accepted at ARTcetera Boston 2015. The bi-annual event raises funds through auctioned art for the AIDS Action Committee. I was lucky enough to go to the last ARTectera in 2013 (thank you to the Mannes!) and was blown away by the event, we had so much fun!
My work that will be included, “The Wave Falters”, has already been in a juried exhibition for the American Society of Marine Artists this spring and I couldn’t be more pleased that it will be at auction for such an amazing organization.
Mr. Scott and I will be on hand at the event on October 3rd, if you happen to be attending and if you would like to bid on it or any of the fantastic work available, it will all be online at Paddle 8 with the auction starting today, September 18th. Online bidding at Paddle8.com will close on Friday, October 2nd, at 5pm EST. Bids will be transferred over to the main event on Saturday, October 3rd.
I can’t wait to see it and am so thrilled to be part of such a killer event! For more information on ARTcetera Boston see their Facebook Page or Website.
I’ve been working like a fiend and SO excited to be back at The Lucky Finn Cafe this season for two weeks in October! I’ll be doing their regular Friday Fall Gallery Nights, October 23rd and 30th. I’ll be on hand for the event to talk and demo… which BTW, I will have some exciting new work to show. It’s under wraps until then!
I’ve been so busy working I’ve had really ZERO time to post, but I wanted to share that my Nantucket show at Trinity Collection has been extended! I’ll have my work there showing through the end of September! It has been a great experience so far and looking forward to spending some more time out on the island! If you are out on the island to enjoy a little early fall and haven’t yet gotten a chance to see, stop by 50 Main Street and say ‘heeeyyy’!
While the heat has finally broken, it seems real Fall weather is still not here yet so I’ll be in the water getting new stuff as much as I can! Hopefully we’ll get a few storms to blow some rollers our way soon!
It has been an amazing experience showing at The Lucky Finn, but all good things must come to a close, so this is your last chance to see the solo exhibit before it’s gone! JHS will be on hand to demo her technique and answer any questions. Hope to see you there!
So honored to be part of a feature of local artists and galleries in South Shore Living Magazine’s July issue!
The article highlights my solo show going on through the 14th at The Lucky Finn Café. If you haven’t made it down to the gallery yet, there is still time, and I’ll be doing a demo event on closing night, July 14th! (More of my work from the show can be seen at my website: JessHurleyScott.com)
On newsstands now, hoping there will be a link through their website soon!
I’ve been working on a new group of water paintings where silvery light played of the ocean one night as the sun was setting off of Peggoty Beach. There were lots of great shots, so far, I have three ‘Mercury’ pieces which will all be in my upcoming solo show at The Lucky Finn which opens June 26th and runs through July 14th.
The Lucky Finn Café and Gallery is pleased to present recent work by painter Jess Hurley Scott. The exhibition will feature new work highlighting her dimensional panel paintings in layers of acrylic. This series explores the abstraction of water through space, reflection and movement.
Had to share that my first TV interview for South Shore Style TV is now being aired on SCTV (Channel 8 for all you Scituate folks!). I’m including a link to the weekly schedule if you want to check out the air times. However, for all the the non-Scituate peeps and device inclined, here’s the YouTube links:
I got the chance to meet the awesome production team including executive producer, Dana Duggan, and host/executive producer John Roser who came to my studio this winter to talk about my process and working as an artist. The show is three segments long featuring local business owners of the South Shore. The first segment is on the Mill Warf Restaurant, and the second is The Lucky Finn cafe, a new gallery and cafe, both are here in Scituate and I am the third in the show. Coincidentally, I have a solo show opening June 26th at The Lucky Finn, so please check out their segment as well and join us for the opening! (It’s 6-8pm)
Thanks again to Dana & John, you were so fun to work with and made it an awesome experience!
