UPDATE: This piece has been sold.

This painting which I just completed is the largest I’ve completed yet. At 18″h x 44″w it has a great presence and I’m loving the detail and impact I can get at a larger scale. Entitled, ‘Sunder and Spray’, it’s a wild wave breaking in different directions as it slams into the shore.

It’s messy, angry, which was only amplified when I broke the image up into different layers of paint and acrylic. There’s no horizon, no actual shore, just the layered rolling water.
As with all of my paintings, the piece is layers of acrylic spaced and suspended in acrylic framing. The space between the layers allows the light of the external environment play into the work while having it totally encased.

“Sunder and Spray” is also joining me on the ferry to Nantucket for my artist showcase this weekend at Trinity Collection with jewelry artist Kerrin Falk Forsyth of Falk Jewelry Designs. It’s quite an organic and fun collaboration. I love that custom surf boards, exclusive watch designs, precious corals and stones and these waves will be all in one space.
The show runs from Friday, December 5th through Sunday, December 7th at The Trinity Collection. They are at 50 Main Street, and we’ll be exhibiting from 10 am to 5 pm. Kerrin and I will be serving a little holiday cheer if you’re on the island and want to stop in to visit!
