It’s been a VERY busy few weeks in the studio so I’m catching up on posting some new pieces that I have on view at the South Shore Art Center from Jan 9th-Feb 15th. This painting is titled, “Breakwall” and is the first of a series of much larger sea series I’m working on called Spindrift. While the piece is still in my layered acylic panels, the size is 32″ x 40″, almost twice the size that I’d been working in up till now. As my scale is getting larger, my view is getting narrower – it’s a whole new aesthetic for me.

I’m really excited that the new scale affords me a different experience in creating and viewing the work. While I paint in a very realism based style, with larger works comes the ability to play more with stroke and technique on the acrylic. The layering has a different effect in these subjects too, they’re more textural.

Thanks!
